ALPHARETTA, Georgia (Tuesday, March 4, 2025) – The 2024 GT America Championship-winning team, SKI Autosports, is set to return to the series in 2025 with former series champion Memo Gidley behind the wheel.

The partnership brings together the 2024 championship team with the 2023 championship-winning driver. Gidley took the 2023 crown while competing against SKI Autosports but is now set to climb behind the wheel of the team’s Audi R8 LMS EVO II GT3.

Gidley sprang to prominence in the late 90s / early 2000s when he starred in the CART championship, often filling in as a substitute driver for the likes of Walker Racing, Forsythe Racing, and Chip Ganassi Racing.

He showcased his talent with multiple podium finishes, including a career-best second place at Laguna Seca in 2001.

Gidley showcased his talent in sportscars, competing for high profile teams including Panoz Motorsports, Highcroft Racing, and Muscle Milk Picket Racing before a dramatic accident at Daytona in 2014 for the GAINSCO/Bob Stallings Racing forced him out the sport for three years while recovering from back, leg, and arm injuries.

The talented Californian racer completed his incredible career comeback when he won the GT America championship in 2023 for TKO Motorsports, taking eight victories.

“I’m so excited. I raced in this championship before for a couple of years, and it’s just an awesome place to be,” Gidley said.

“I initially met Kent and Melissa during my championship year, and now I’m really looking forward to working with them, getting out there, and seeing what we can do.

“I haven’t driven the Audi before, but I think the R8 will probably feel a lot like many of the rear-engine cars that I have driven in the past. When I raced against SKI Autosports back in 2023, it seemed like the Audi was really good in tight corners and very nimble, but I’m just looking forward to seeing what it feels like and just finding out where the edge is.”

Due to the lateness of this change of driver, SKI Autosports will, unfortunately, miss the West Coast portion of the season and will join the series at Circuit of the Americas in April.

“Spending time with Memo during the 2023 season gave us a keen appreciation of him both as a person and a driver,” SKI Autosports owner Kent Hussey said.

“We are thrilled that he has agreed to join the SKI Autosports team, and we look forward to spirited competition this season.”
