ELKHART LAKE, Wis. (Monday, August 31, 2026) – SKI Autosports and Memo Gidley completed a record-breaking weekend at Road America, claiming back-to-back GT America powered by AWS victories and moving within reach of the 2026 SRO3 championship.
Gidley earned his eighth and ninth victories of the season aboard the No. 56 SKI Autosports Audi R8 LMS GT3 Evo II, extending an outstanding run of results for the team and its “Rowdy Audi.”
Sunday’s victory established a new personal season record for Gidley, surpassing the eight wins he scored during his previous best campaign. It was also SKI Autosports’ 16th victory in GT America competition.
The Road America results completed SKI Autosports’ fourth weekend sweep of 2026, equaling the GT America record for the most sweeps in a single season. The two victories extended Gidley’s championship advantage to 92 points with four races and a maximum of 100 points remaining.
The weekend began with Gidley setting the pace in Saturday morning’s 15-minute qualifying session. He secured the overall and SRO3 pole position, earning the best possible starting position for the first of the weekend’s two 40-minute races.
Gidley converted that advantage into victory later that afternoon. After leading the field to the green flag, he controlled the race from the front and managed his advantage throughout the contest.
Tony Davis mounted a late charge and recorded the fastest lap, but Gidley responded to the pressure and maintained his lead through the closing stages. He took the checkered flag 2.351 seconds clear of Davis, recording his eighth victory from the opening nine races of the season.
The performance continued the combination of speed, execution and consistency displayed throughout the year by Gidley and the SKI Autosports crew.
Sunday’s second race presented a different challenge. Davis started from pole position and initially retained the lead, but Gidley immediately began applying pressure aboard the No. 56 Audi.
Gidley made his move on the opening lap, attacking Davis on the approach to Turn 5 and completing the pass for the lead. Once in front, he quickly established control of the race and began opening a gap over the battle for second place.
While Davis, Ross Chouest and Scott Blind fought for the remaining podium positions, Gidley continued to manage the race from the front. Chouest eventually moved into second during the closing minutes, but there was no catching the SKI Autosports Audi.
Gidley crossed the line 2.634 seconds ahead of Chouest to complete the weekend sweep and secure his record-breaking ninth victory of the season.
“It’s unbelievable,” Gidley said. “For me, the best situation I can be in is racing for the best people. Kent, Melissa and everybody at SKI Autosports — they’re just the A team. They’re number one.
“Then we’ve also got the ‘Rowdy Audi,’ which, as we know, is an awesome car.
“It’s just a pleasure to be out here at Road America. I’ve been here many times in all different types of cars, and it’s always great to come back and see the fans.”
SKI Autosports previously won the GT America Masters championship in 2023 before securing the overall championship in 2024. The team remained in title contention despite contesting a limited schedule in 2025 and returned to a full-season campaign with Gidley in 2026.
That decision has produced one of the most successful campaigns in GT America history, with SKI Autosports and Gidley winning at every event to date and sweeping four of the opening five race weekends. That is the first time in series history that any driver and team has achieved that incredible feat.
The championship battle will continue at Barber Motorsports Park from September 25–27. With a 92-point lead and only 100 points still available, Gidley and SKI Autosports will arrive in Alabama with their first opportunity to secure the 2026 SRO3 title.
